I have been doing hair for over 11 years and I am the bridal consultant here at Source Salon & Spa.  I have loved everything about hair since I was a little girl.  I would cut my Barbie’s hair and play with everyone in my family’s hair for fun.  My dad would even let me curl his hair and fill it with barrettes.

Why did you start doing hair?
-Fashion!  It is consistently changing and intersecting with past looks just like hair.  I can never get bored!

What do you enjoy doing outside of the salon?
-Socializing and throwing a party!

What do you enjoy doing with hair?
-Creating realistic looks that compliments a person’s natural beauty that they are able to recreate at home!

Who is your favorite type of guest?
-I don’t have a specific type of guest.  I love the variation of guests because it allows me to be creative with so many different styles.

I have been working with hair and make-up professionally for 12 years. I love bringing out the unique beauty in every one of my clients. I specialize in curly hair, creative men’s and women’s cuts, and color! I love my job because I get to create the best look for clients, while making them feel great!

Why did you start doing hair?
I got into cosmetology because, as an artist, I was trying to find a way to incorporate this into my everyday life. I love having people as my medium to work with.  Everyone is unique and it is fun to make people feel as amazing as possible in their own skin.

What inspires you?
Everything inspires me: nature, cities, and my clients; but mostly people who have a dream and dare to be different while changing the world. Martin Luther King Jr., Bjork, Beyonce’s Drag Queen in San Francisco, and my favorite hairstylist Christian Houtoenbous are all examples!

What do you enjoy doing outside of the salon?
I love all aspects of art. I studied at the Minneapolis College of Art and design. I love to paint, travel the world, and be inspired by other cultures. I enjoy the outdoors by skiing, surfing, and hiking. I also like to people watch in the cities and dance until dawn.

What do you enjoy doing with hair?
I love working with curly and textured hair, doing unique and creative men’s cuts, and making all my girls into goddesses with glamorous color and sexy style!

Who is your favorite type of guest?
My favorite type of guest is anyone who trusts that I know what is best for their look and gives me that creative freedom!

How would you describe your personal style?
My personal style is a love for all eras and fad. You never know what I could be from day to day! It’s always a surprise.

What is your guilty pleasure?
One of my guilty pleasures is  watching Absolutely Fabulous all day while drinking champagne!

Growing up with a hairstylist as a parent, becoming one was the last thing I ever thought I would do with my life.  Now after years of fashion shows, sassy clients and numerous cans of hair spray I can't think of a better career.

Why did you go into Hair and Massage therapy?
-After a world wind of trying to figure out what I wanted to do with my life from being a butcher (there's a story) to Theater Arts and Dance, I decided to become a massage therapist.  After doing massage for a year I decided I needed more of the hustle atmosphere of the salon and hairstylist side and so I went back to school.  Now I get to walk the fine line between peace and serenity of the spa and the loud dramatic hair-cutting floor as kind of a one-stop service provider.  Most rewarding choice I have made yet.

What are things that inspire you?
-Nature, movies, T. V., people on the street, coworkers and my mom.

What are your interests outside of work?
-Dancing, love going to movies, food (big foodie), working out, outdoorsy stuff in the summer and trying new things.

What do you feel you excel at in Hair?
-I feel I work great with curly hair and cuts.

What do you feel you excel at in Massage Therapy?
-I feel that I give the guest a sense that it's going to be all right for the amount of time there massage is.  If they come in talking about stressful life or a pulled hamstring/ etc, I feel I make them feel it's ok to let go of all of that stress and take some time to better their quality of life.

Who would be your favorite type of guest?
-I love anyone who sits in my chair however I would have to say my favorite type of guest is someone who isn't afraid to show their WOW factor.  I like to make guest look and feel like they are going to walk down a Victoria secret runway.  For the guys make them look like their going to walk down the D&G one.

What is your guilty pleasure?
-I like my Britney Spears Music (the woman can do no wrong).

How would you describe your personal style?
-I'm a t-shirt and jeans type of guy that can clean up very nicely.

I have been doing hair for 2 years now and I love every second of it.  I’m thrilled to work in an environment that is constantly challenging me and furthering my education.  I am also the makeup artist here at Source.  I have been doing makeup for 5 years and it is a blast. I have studied all kinds of techniques from MAC cosmetics to Bare Minerals.  With makeup it is not about how much or how little, it’s about how it is done.

Why did you start doing hair?
-I started doing hair because I love the satisfaction I get when someone leaves truly happy.  I wanted a skill that I could use to benefit my future and at the same time interact and help people.

What do you enjoy doing with hair?
-There are 2 sides of hair that I love, the dark and the light.  The dark being short edgy haircuts with a lot of texture.  They are so fun to sculpt and style.  The light side being soft and sexy Victoria Secret hair, it is so carefree that naturally it draws the eye.

What inspires you?
-Watching stylists who have been in the industry for 5+ years is very inspiring to me.  They have so much knowledge and experience to learn from.

What do you enjoy doing outside of the salon?
-I guess I am just your average 21 year old.  I love to go to the beach and just listen to the water.  I also enjoy photography so I am usually standing in front of scenery of some sort snapping away with my camera

Who is your favorite type of guest?
-I love when someone comes in ready for a change, anything from long to short or blond to black.  It is a lot of fun to collaborate with the client to come up with the perfect cut, color and style.

What is your guilty pleasure?
-Bad reality TV.  I can sit down and watch Jerseylicious any day.

How would you describe your personal style?
-I like to keep it pretty basic.  I want the attention to be on my client and how amazing they look.

I’ve been doing hair since 2007, and I’m very excited to be working in Ballard again. I love this town and have for years

Why did you start doing hair?
-Growing up, I loved all things artsy. I was fortunate that my parents helped me hone my craft by teaching me how to paint, work with clay and sketch. In high school, it hit me when friends asked me to style their hair for formal dances; I found that hair was my favorite medium to work with.

What do you enjoy doing with hair?
-My original pick for the question “Do you like to cut or color?” was “cut.” As I became more comfortable with the complicated science of color formulation/application, I found that my answer switched. I enjoy creating a custom formulation and application of a foil/balayage for my clients.  However, a great color is nothing if one doesn’t have a crisp cut to show it off!

What inspires you?
-I find that I am most inspired by observing others.  Be it a musician, clanging away on a drum set, or the vibrant patterns in nature, I can’t get enough of movement, color and sound. Seattle parks are a great place to find this combination.

What do you enjoy doing outside of the salon?

-I am interested in every quality coffee shop Seattle has to offer, as well as a comfy chair to read in and a good book.  If I am fresh out of reading material, I turn to my trusty tunes.

Who is your favorite type of guest?
-I find my favorite type of guest is one who is open to new ideas or styling techniques.  One’s experience at a salon should be fun and relaxing, it’s good to have people in my chair who are there for that reason.

What is your guilty pleasure?
-My secret weakness is Cadbury Mini Eggs. Each year, I stock up in an attempt to keep them around for my consumption till the next spring.  Unfortunately, by the month of June, my stash is depleted.

How would you describe your personal style?
-For me, flowers and boots are king. Also, stick with waterproof, you never know!
